Sary-Chelek is one of the most beautiful lakes in Kyrgyzstan, of zavalny origin. It is located in the basin of the Kozho-Ata River, in the south-east. the slope of the Chatkal ridge.

Among the lakes whose origin is associated with glaciers, the Merzbacher Lake, located between the glaciers of the Southern and Northern Enilchek, is interesting in its regime. The lake basin consists of ice, is filled annually with meltwater from glaciers, and every year at the end of summer breaks under the South Enilchek glacier, forming a flood on the Enilchek River, 10 times higher than the average annual water consumption.
